Our SciFi Future - the blog of Ivan Voras
Ivan Voras, PhD, is an entrepreneur, CTO, AI engineer, or a senior developer, depending on what’s needed at the time. He is a dreamer and enjoys working on exotic and early-stage technologies, even though that often seems masochistic.
Some of the interesting things I’ve done:
Co-founded a startup for mass-scale AR experiences on mobile phones - and I’m learning how competing on price sucks.
Co-founded a startup for phone AI agents - defunct now but I’ve learned not to expect technology to get better just because I wanted it to (this was way before the recent AI bubble).
Co-founded a startup for IoT smart city furniture - defunct now but I’ve learned how to design electronics (PCBs)
Worked professionally as a blockchain developer since 2014. — but rarely do so now because I think neither scams nor FinTech are sexy. Co-founded the Croatian NGO for blockchains and cryptocurrency (UBIK).
Helped found the Croatian version of the Pirate Party.
Gave a TEDx talk about futurism at the first ever Croatian TEDx event.
My PhD was in performance optimisation for in-memory database caches.
Was a contributing editor / IT journalist for the national IT magazines Mreža and BUG
I was a real geek in middle school and uni - won several national competition events in CS and physics. I still care a lot about physics (and science in general).
I’ve contributed to more than 90 public repos on GitHub - and to about a dozen more before GitHub even existed ;)
