When LLM beliefs collide with real world facts
The impact of the US special military operation in Venezuela can also be judged by how unlikely the vast LLMs consider it happening. In short, LLMs as the great statistical predictors basically consider the actual fact of the event to be “fake news” (i.e. “can never happen”), unless instructed to prioritise information found on the web over their training.
Think about what that means in the context of:
How bad they are at predicting black swan events
How shitty the idea of using LLMs to filter or censor infirmation is (e.g. on social media platforms)
